THE NEED OF MAN
INTRODUCTION:
A. God created man - Genesis 1 and 2:
1. His constitution:
a. Body - I Corinthians 6:19.
b. Soul - Hebrews 4:12.
c. Spirit - I Corinthians 2:11.
2. His character - as created:
a. Innocent and Holy.
b. Ignorant and Cognizant (knowledge by experience) of only God -Knew only
good.
3. His environment - Garden of Eden.
a. Three conditions:
1) Probation - dress garden.
2) Prohibition - don't eat.
3) Provocation - provoked - man made choice.
B. Man Fell -They ate - thus physical and spiritual death became realities.
C. The Need - 5 Facts to Bring Us Back to God.
I. Righteousness - "Justification" - Just as if I had no sin:
A. Man must be made holy - A Holy God could not embrace an unholy man.
B. Two ways to be right:
1. MERIT - could NEVER be wrong:
a. Romans 3:23
b. Romans 6:23
2. IMPUTATION - God makes man - declares him a new creature -Romans 4:9-17:
a. Initially - at baptism - Acts 2:38.
b. Progressively - growth - Colossians 2.
II. Propitiation – satisfaction:
a. Wrath of God is a reality - Numbers 11:33 - smote people with plague.
b. God's wrath based on righteousness:
1. Leviticus 10 - Nadab and Abihu.
2. I Chronicles 13:9,10 - Uzziah and the Ark.
III. Redemption - deliverance at a price – Ephesians 1:7:
A. Example: first fruits, first born could be redeemed or bought back.
B. We are redeemed from:
1. Penalty of sin - Matthew 1:21 - "And she shall bring forth a son, and
thou shall call his name Jesus; for it is he that shall save the people from
their sins."
2. Vanity of life - I Peter 1:18:
a. Life without Christ is empty.
b. There is no purpose.
3. The Curse of the Law - Galatians 3:13 -
Break it in one point guilty of the whole.
IV. RECONCILIATION - to receive one into favor:
a. II Corinthians 5:19,20 - Change of attitude.
b. Reflection of this attitude - I Peter 3:8-12.
c. Has two outlooks:
1. Subjectively - looks on with wrath.
2. Objectively - looks on us with favor.
V. Sanctification - to sanctify or to make holy:
a. Initially Sanctified - I Peter 1:2; I Corinthians 1:2 - addressed to
saints, the brethren - Been bought by the blood of Christ – acts 20:28.
b. Progressively:
1. Romans 6:19-23.
2. Hebrews 12:10, 14.
3. These passages urge a saint to continue in holiness.
CONCLUSION:
a. All of the points tie together with baptism:
1. This is focusing point.
2. This is part we do to show God our heart is right.
B. Steps involved:
1. Hear - Romans 10:17.
2. Believe – Mark 16:16
3. Repentance - Acts 3:19
4. Confession - Romans 10:8-10
5. Baptism - (command of God) Matthew 28:19,20:
a. It is a burial - Romans 6:4.
b. For remission of sins - Acts 2:38.
c. Places one in Christ - Romans 6:3.
d. Produces new life. Romans 6:4.
C. Christian life must be continuous:
1. Abide in Christ - John 15:6.
2. Faith without works is dead - James 2:14-26.
3. Christian is God's workmanship - Ephesians 2:8-10.

WHAT DOES IT
MEAN TO HAVE A SAVIOR?
INTRODUCTION:
A. We often talk about having a Savior.
B. Revelation 20:11-14; Revelation 21:8.
C. Jude 20-23.
d. In this lesson, we will take a look at WHAT we are saved from and the
fact that we are saved completely.
I. HAVING A SAVIOR MEANS BEING SAVED FROM SOMETHING - SAVED FROM WHAT?
a. Abandonment:
1. Romans 1:18-28 - God let them go.
a. Genesis 6:3 - "I will not strive..." - He let them go.
b. II Thessalonians 2:10-12.
B. Death - THANATOS – separation:
1. Genesis 3:23.
2. Not existence but a no-quality life.
a. No meaningful relationship.
C. Destruction = Matthew 10:28 - loss of all things with any pleasure -
Happiness, joy, never again to have your dreams realized.
D. Darkness:
1. Matthew 8:12 - eternal loss of perspective.
2. Jude 6; II Peter 2:4.
II. HAVING A SAVIOR MEANS WE ARE SAVED COMPLETELY - HEBREWS 7:25-28:
A. What is involved in being saved completely?
1. Salvation is greater than sin.
a. Sin exists in three ways:
1) Guilt - penalty - transgressors - Romans 6:23.
2) Power - Genesis 3:1-19.
3) Presence - Ephesians. 2:1-3.
b. Jesus bore our sin for us - bought us out of it:
1) Romans 5:9.
2) The resurrection frees us from the presence of sin.
B. Salvation is greater than the shame of sin we face:
1. Hebrews 2:11; Hebrews 11:16.
2. Romans 3:25:
a. Atonement - to cover us.
b. Propitiation - to stop God's anger - His wrath is satisfied.
c. Sacrifice - He took our place.
C. Salvation is greater than time:
1. Once saved - we have no guilt for sins passed – Romans 8:1.
2. I Corinthians 1:18 - are being saved.
3. Acts 2:38 - past, present and future.
4. Hebrews 9:28 - bring salvation - future.
a. II Corinthians 1:10 - past, present and future.
D. Salvation is greater than all of our needs:
1. I Thessalonians 5:23:
a. I Corinthians 5:5 - spirit.
b. Hebrews 10:39 - soul.
c. Romans 8:23 - body.
1) Hebrews 2:5 – destiny.
CONCLUSION:
A. John 8:24 - believe in His Messiahship - Deity.
B. Luke 13:5 - repent.
C. John 3:5 - be born again.
