Everything I want nothing I Need
Introduction:
A. Satan can promise everything we want, but nothing we need
B. God promises everything we need and can provide them!
I. PROMISERS:
A. THE devil IS NOT LIMITED TO TRUTH
JOHN
8:44
44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of
your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not
in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he
speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
B. JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH. AND THE LIFE
JOHN
14:6
6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and
the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
JOHN
10:10
10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.
II. Purchased PROMISES:
A, SATAN KEPT NOT his FIRST ESTATE
Jude
6
6
And the angels which kept not their first estate,
but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under
darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Revelation
12:7-9
7
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his
angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8
And prevailed not; neither was their place found
any more in heaven.
9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old
serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he
was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
b. Christ purchased his church, he provides great and precious promises
Acts 20:28
28
Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all
the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed
the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
II
Peter 1:1-4
1
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus
Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the
righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2
Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the
knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3
According as his divine power hath given unto us
all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of
him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and
precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
III. Provisions provided:
a. Satan the sinful things of this world
I
John 2:16-17
16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the
flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the
Father, but is of the world.
17
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Hebrews
11:25
25
Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the
people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
Hebrews 3:13
13
But exhort one another daily, while it is called
To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
b. Jesus provides all things that pertain to life and godliness
II
Peter 1:3
3
According as his divine power hath given unto us
all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of
him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Mark
16;16
16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Romans
6:17,18
17
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of
sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was
delivered you.
18
Being then made free from sin, ye became the
servants of righteousness.
IV. Painfulness OR PLEASANTNESS?
A. the one who promises all will be in hell and those who follow him will
also be there
Matthew
25:41
41
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,
Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and
his angels:
II
Thessalonians 1:7-9
7
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the
Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know
not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction
from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
B. those who follow jesus unto the end will be pleasantly rewarded
Revelation
14:13
13
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me,
Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea,
saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do
follow them.
Matthew 25:21
21
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and
faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make
thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Conclusion:
A. everything you want or everything you need?
B. remember, the devil is not bound by the truth, but god cannot lie
Hebrews
6:17-20
17
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto
the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an
oath:
18
That by two immutable things, in which it was
impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled
for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both
sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even
Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

He Faileth Not
Introduction:
A. Zephaniah is not a book written to comfort Israelites:
1. Sinful people
2. Rebuked and warned
3. Doom is approaching
B. Comfort for the righteous
Zephaniah 3:5
5
The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not
do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth
not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.
C. God will never fail you
I. God will never fail YOU IN His Power:
A. His power is pledged in Christ to work on our behalf:
1.
Romans 8:28-32 - God planned it that way
28
And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate
to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn
among many brethren.
30
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also
called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified,
them he also glorified.
31
What shall we then say to these things? If God be
for us, who can be against us?
32
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him
up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
2.
Hebrews 6:13-18 - Two immutable things oath and counsel.
13
For when God made promise to Abraham, because he
could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14
Saying,
Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I
will multiply thee. Gen 22:17
15
And so, after he had patiently endured, he
obtained the promise.
16
For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath
for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
3.
Galatians 3:7 - they which are of faith
7
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith,
the same are the children of Abraham.
B. But has your faith begun to fail?
James 1:5-8
5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given
him.
6
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he
that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7
For let not that man think that he shall receive
any thing of the Lord.
8
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
C. Think about maturing in the Lord:
1. David spent some long days and nights waiting.
a.
Psalm 13:1-4 - How long, O Lord?
1
How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever?
how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
2
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having
sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3
Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine
eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him;
and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
b. But He trusted
Psalm
13: 5,6
5
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall
rejoice in thy salvation.
6
I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt
bountifully with me.
2.
James 1:2-4 - making you perfect
2
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into
divers temptations;
3
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith
worketh patience.
4
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye
may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
II. God will never fail YOU IN His Wisdom:
A. We often ask why?
1. Why do the wicked prosper?
Psalm
73:2, 3
2
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps
had well nigh slipped.
3
For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the
prosperity of the wicked.
2. So much suffering?
B. God is wiser than us. What a comfort!
1.
I
Corinthians 1:25 - The foolishness of God:
25
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men;
and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
a. Saul of Tarsus -
Acts 9:26 – Many wondered if this man really was a Christian
26
And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to
join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed
not that he was a disciple.
Would God save him? – Yes –
I
Timothy 1:15
15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all
acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom
I am chief.
b. Jesus’ humble birth
2.
Proverbs 28:26 -
26
He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but
whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
3.
Romans 1:22 - By human wisdom man rejected God
22
Professing themselves to be wise, they became
fools,
C. There are many things we just don’t understand, know,
yet!
1.
I
John 3:2 - Beloved now we are the sons of God buy more revealed later
2
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth
not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we
shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
2.
John 16:12 - I have yet many things to say unto you
12
I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye
cannot bear them now.
3.
Mark 13:32 - when Jesus will return has not been revealed
32
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no,
not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
3.
Daniel 12:9 - words are closed up but much to be revealed
9
And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are
closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
III. God will never fail you In His Love:
A. What a great love God has for us
Phillippians
2:5-8
5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ
Jesus:
6
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not
robbery to be equal with God:
7
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon
him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled
himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Hebrews
12:2
2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our
faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising
the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
I
John 4:16-18
16
And we have known and believed the love that God
hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and
God in him.
17
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have
boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth
out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in
love.
B. Cause Him to employ power and wisdom:
1.
Deuteronomy 7:8 - because God loved them
8
But because the LORD loved you, and because he
would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD
brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of
bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
2.
John 3:16 - because God loves us
16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.
3.
Romans 5:8 - Jesus is the demonstration of God's
love for us
8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
4.
Ephesians 2:4-6 - rich in mercy, for His great love
4
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love
wherewith he loved us,
5
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us
together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
C. His love never fails
Jeremiah 31:3
3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying,
Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with
lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
I
Corinthians 13:13
13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three;
but the greatest of these is charity.
Conclusion:
A. Nothing stays the same
B.
Hebrews 13:8 - what a comfort
8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and
for ever.
C. So many things fail
d. God will never fail you
e. Are you failing God?
