I. UNFORTUNATE SUFFERERS

 Matthew 15:29-31

29
And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

30
And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

31
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

a. Jesus is seated.

II. AN AFFLICTED FATHER

 Mark 5:21-23

21
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

22
And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

23
And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

III. A SORROWING MOTHER

Mark 7:24-26

24
And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.

25
For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:

26
The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.

A. here was a Greek woman with a daughter, who has an unclean spirit.

B. she fell at the feet of Jesus begging his help.

IV. A SINFUL WOMAN

 Luke 7:37,38

37
And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38
And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

A. she brought an alabaster box of ointment.

B. weeping, she began to wash his feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

V. A HEALED DEMONIAC

 Luke 8:35

35
Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

A. the difference was Jesus.

B. Jesus can make all who obey him, be in “their right mind”.

VI. A TRUTH-SEEKER

 Luke 10:38-42

38
Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.

40
But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

A. Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet.

B. she chose the best.

VII. A HEALED LEPER

 Luke 17:15-18

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16
And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17
And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18
There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

X. REVERENT WORSHIPERS

 Matthew 28:9

And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.

Revelation 1:12-18

12
And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

13
And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14
His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

17
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

18
I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

A. Christ never once rejected worship offered to HIM. As God incarnate, he was fully entitled to it; and the worship of him is proper at all times.

B. Worship at the feet of Jesus in heaven.

Conclusion:

a. One day everyone will fall at the feet of Jesus

Romans 14:10-12

10
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. Isa 45:23

12
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

b. Why not fall at his feet willingly now?

JOSEPH’S FAITH IS TESTED

Introduction:

A. Joseph was the favored son of Jacob.

B. God sent Joseph dreams showing him that he would be the leader over men.

C. The envy of Joseph's brothers caused him to be in slavery in Egypt.

D. Joseph was sold to Pharaoh's Captain of the Guard, Potiphar.

I. Test of Prosperity

Genesis 39:1-6

1
And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmaelites, which had brought him down thither.

2
And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

3
And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

4
And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

5
And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

6
And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favored.

A. Joseph advanced from common slave to chief operating officer of Potiphar's house.

B. Potiphar's affairs prospered in every way.

C. Joseph gave God the credit.

II. Test of Purity

 Genesis 39: 7-12

7
And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

8
But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

9
There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

10
And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

11
And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

12
And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

A. Joseph was handsome.

B. Mrs. Potiphar lusted after him:

1. The temptation was a surprise.

2. The temptation was day after day.

3. The temptation was a secret.

C. Joseph did not fall for the temptation:

1. He had conviction before temptation.

2. He knew love involved loyalty to Potiphar and God.

iii. Test of Persecution

 Genesis 39:13-23

13
And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,

14
That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:

15
And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.

16
And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.

17
And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:

18
And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.

19
And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.

20
And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

21
But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22
And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

23
The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.

A. Just as things were going better than they had in ten years, the Hebrew Prince was put into prison.
(pit, slavery, prison)
B . God's favor caused Joseph to be put in charge of the prison under the keeper of the prison, just has he had been second in charge for Potiphar.

Conclusion:

A. Be faithful in little things; God will bless you with more.

B. Trust God regardless of present circumstances; there are better things

 John 14:1-6

1
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
