Tell Them of Jesus - Lesson Four -Part One

Matthew 28:18-20

18
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

1. All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven =This teaches the divinity of Christ.

John 8:58
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

2. And in earth -Christ is head of the church upon earth as well as in heaven

Ephesians 5:23
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

Acts 1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Christ is now reigning

I Corinthians 15:24,25

24
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

3. Go ye therefore and teach all nations (make disciples)

Acts 17:26
 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

John 8:30-32

30
As he spake these words, many believed on him.

31
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

4. Baptizing them

Mark 16:15,16

15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

I Peter 3:21,22

21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

5. In the name – by the authority of that Name!
Three names are given, yet they are one name. God's unity and oneness are taught by this.

6. Of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) Here is the doctrine of the Trinity. The pronouns for God in Genesis are plural, as in "Let us make man in our image" - Genesis 1:26

Genesis 2:24

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Genesis 11:6

And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

Matthew 3:16

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased

Tell Them of Jesus - Lesson Four - Part Two

1.Teaching them to observe all things -Teach the taught, those who have been baptized -

Acts 2:41-47

41
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42
And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43
And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44
And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45
And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46
And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47
Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

2. Whatsoever I have commanded you - Matthew 17:5 - While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Galatians 1:6-12

6
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

11
But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

12
For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

I John 5:3

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

John 4:24

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Jude 3

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

3.And lo, I am with you always -This teaches the providence of God.

Hebrews 1:3

 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

I John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

4. Even unto the end of the world - This teaches immortality. Christ had not promised to be with his disciples until they die; this promise greatly exceeds that

II Timothy 1:10

But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

II Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

5. The end of the world, Amen -This is the doctrine of the final destruction of the entire material creation, specifically of the earth and all that is in it.

II Peter 3:7-14

7
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
